I'm sure a lot of you have heard of them, but here's a few facts:

Members:
Anette Olzon (vocals)
Tuomas Holopainen (keys, lyrics)
Emppu Vuorinen (guitar, some music)
Marco Hietala (bass, vocals, some music)
Jukka Navalainen (drums)

Former members: Tarja Turunen (vocals), Sami Vanska (bass)

Albums:
Angels Fall First
Oceanborn
Wishmaster
Over The Hills And Far Away
Century Child
Once
Dark Passion Play

Tuomas Holopainen describes their music as "symphonic heavy metal with a female singer". Their latest albums have included orchestras.

Both sites have a bio on the band.

I love them, they're one of my favourite bands Smile

They're my favourite band by far Smile I'd say the album I like the most by them is Century Child. I'm a big Sonata Arctica fan too Smile

I love this band Very Happy Nightish is a fantastic symphonic, power metal band from Finland. I very lik this band, but with Tarja vocals. Anette at concerts doesn't deal with old Nightwish songs and sometimes songs from DPP! Sometimes I little like Anette vocals, but I love Tarja voice in Nightwish. I love classical fmale voices in metal. This is my passion for future. Tuomas is a fantastic person and a great composeer, but he choose not perfect vocalist for band. This is my oppinion for this band. Nightwish music I love still, but vocals I like sometimes.

Yeah, I'm a Sonata Arctica fan too Very Happy I love Tony vocals xD

I heard this band 4 years ago and I like them but I don't think of them as the greatest thing ever. I like some of their old stuff but I they used some of the same themes over and over a few times.

I agree, i like some songs. They are still imo one of the most overrated female fronted metal bands with WT and EV. Tarja was OK vocalist, but Anette is imo disaster, and she is going to be 40 soon, so i think she wont stay with NW too long, this could easily be something like middle age's crisis for her

I think it was the summer 1999 when I heard Nightwish for the first time. My cousin liked the song "Walking in the Air" and play that to me. So quite quick I manage to get Oceanborn (illegal cd from Russia, first forms of piracy in Finland). And I loved it! That was my first touch to metal music. For several years Nightwish was my favourite band. I think in autumn 2002 the band called CMX took that place. I have almoust all Nightwish's cd:s. I also had Dark Passion Play LP but when I broke up with my ex I left the LP behind because I didn't have the player for LP's. Now I regret that but there's nothing I can do now.
I have seen Nightwish in live three times. In Ruisrock -01, in Koria Roll -01 and in Ilosaarirock -02.
